Two of the  traditional rulers who escaped were identified as the Emir of Askira, Abdullahi Askirama and the Emir Of Uba, Ismaila Mamza

Gwoza is a community in northern Nigeria that is over 90% Muslim. As recently as six years ago it was inconceivable to imagine any birth control or family planning options. They were regarded as taboo. The accepted norm was that  “God gives children and God will provide for the children”. It was therefore not unusual to see women giving birth to 10 or more children. The cultural belief system encouraged the high rate as the more children a women had, the more respect she received
from her husband and the greater her status within the  community..    It's very unfortunate. This guys don't have regards for their elders any more.

HIV/AIDS IN PERSPECTIVE

Celebrities who died of AIDS.

Queen’s Freddie Mercury — one of the greatest musicians of all time — was diagnosed with HIV in 1987 and kept it secret for over 4 years, on account of the social stigma against the disease at the time.

Anthony Perkins, who gave a career-defining performance as Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho," died on Sept. 12, 1992, from complications of AIDS. He was 60 years old.

British actor and director Tony Richardson, ex-husband of Vanessa Redgrave and father of Joely Richardson and the late Natasha Richardson, died of AIDS in 1991. He won Best Picture and Best Director Oscars for his 1963 movie "Tom Jones."

Former tennis star Arthur Ashe, who contracted AIDS through a blood transfusion, addressed a 1992 World Health Organization (WHO) meeting on the World AIDS Day before dying a year later at age 49. Sports stars who fought AIDS helped destigmatize the disease.

Artist and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe was 42 when he died of AIDS complications. Since his death, his Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation has raised millions of dollars for medical research in the fight against AIDS and
Rock Hudson was a leading man in the romantic comedies of the 1950s and 1960s and among the first celebrities to die of AIDS-related diseases. His passing led his friend and "Giant" co-star Elizabeth Taylor to spend the rest of her life raising funds for AIDS research.

The further fall of racism--Kim Kardashian Weds Kanye West --May 24

Prior to the highly publicized wedding between Kim Kardashian and 'Bad boy' Kanye West, slated for this weekend, (Saturday May 24th) the 33 year old reality star opened up on topics ranging from the truth about her wedding dress to racism.

Kim Kardashian spoke about how welcoming daughter North with West last June is like getting "to see the world for the first time again, but through someone else's eyes." "It's amazing how one little person and the love I have for her has brought new meaning to every moment. What once seemed so important, now feels insignificant," she writes. "To be honest, before I had North, I never really gave racism or discrimination a lot of thought. It is obviously a topic that Kanye is passionate about, but I guess it was easier for me to believe that it was someone else's battle."

But with the arrival of her daughter, Kardashian says she's more aware "of a side of life that isn't always so pretty."
"I feel a responsibility as a mother, a public figure, a human being, to do what I can to make sure that not only my child, but all children, don't have to grow up in a world where they are judged by the color of their skin, or their gender, or their sexual orientation," Kardashian concluded. "I want my daughter growing up in a world where love for one another is the most important thing."

Racism is the belief that races have distinctive cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over others.
It is a product of capitalism. It grew out of early capitalism’s use of slaves for the plantations of the New World, it was consolidated in order to justify western and white domination of the rest of the world and it flourishes today as a means of dividing the working class between white and  black, or native and immigrants or asylum seekers. Racism is a particular form of oppression: discrimination against people on the grounds that some inherited characteristic, for example, skin color, makes them inferior to their oppressors.
However, historical references indicate that class society before capitalism was able, on the whole, to do without this particular form of oppression. Bad as the society of classical Greece and Rome were it is historically reasonably well documented that the ancient Greeks and Romans knew nothing about race. Slaves were both black and white and in fact the majority of slaves were white. The first clear evidence of racism occurred at the end of the 16th century with the start of the slave trade from Africa to Britain and to America.

Fight against racism and xenophobia

In Europe the key measure in the fight against racism was the resolution adopted by the Council and the representatives of the Member States in July 1996, declaring 1997 to be the "European Year against Racism".

The Amsterdam Treaty (1999) provided the first legal basis for combating all forms of discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation, as well as for the fight against racism and xenophobia in the fields of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters.

Mostly everybody has said at least one thing they regret. Most of the time, however, that does not cost the person anything more than some potential embarrassment, or a very delicate situation. As things go higher and more public however, there is an increased likelihood of a fall, especially when the stupid thing you say is undeniably racist or bigoted. Here are some people who learned that particular lesson the hard way.
- Donald Sterling
- Jesse Jackson
- john Rocker
- Paula Deen
- Jimmy ''the Greek''
- Al Campanis
- Dan Imus.  Etc.

Racism is a product of  man's sinful nature, and those that engage in it are ignorant and doomed for destruction.

I pray that Kim's marriage to Kanye would be blissful and further herald the fall of racism.

Cheers! To love.

The Federal high court today asked Dr Lamido Sanusi to accept his fate and go back home.

Court maintains Lamido Sanusi's suspention

Former CBN Governor, Dr Lamido Sanusi remains suspended.
The Kano prince whom had gone to the Federal high court to challenge his suspension by President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan was today asked to go home and accept his fate

Sanusi who has never hidden his desire to succeed the Emir of Kano Alhaji Dr Ado Abdullahi Bayero who ascended the throne in October 1963 after the demise of Muhammed Inuwa who ruled for three months following the dethronement in 1963 of Muhammed Sanusi who happened to be Ado Bayero's half brother has so much to fall back and wait for.

In the ruling spanning over 2 hours, Honourable Justice Kolawole upheld the submissions of the Counsel to the President, Dr. Fabian Ajogwu, SAN and that of the Counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN. In his Preliminary Objection filed in opposition to the Plaintiff’s Originating Summons, Learned Counsel to the President, Dr. Fabian Ajogwu, SAN argued that the Federal High Court lacks Jurisdiction to entertain the suit between Mallam Sanusi and the President since it bothers on Labour matters. Accordingly, he had urged the Court to decline Jurisdiction on it. Towing the same vein, the Counsel to the Attorney-General of the Federation sued as the 2nd Defendant, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN had in the hearing of the matter urged the Honourable Judge to wash his hands off the case as the Court lacked Jurisdiction to entertain the suit.

Upholding the submission of Learned Counsel to the Defendants, the Honourable Court declined Jurisdiction and accordingly referred the matter to the National Industrial Court. The Learned Judge in the course of delivering the Ruling faulted the submissions of Counsel to Mallam Sanusi, Mr. Kola Awodein, SAN and Mr AB Mahmoud SAN who in their pleadings had said that Mallam Sanusi was not an employee of the Federal Government but that of the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria, which he incidentally headed. Upholding the arguments of the Counsel to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Umoh SAN, the Court also struck out the name of the IGP sued as 3rd Defendant holding that there was no cause of action against the Inspecto General of Police..

Evil men on the loose: Primary school pupils stabbed in China by 35 years old Chen in the central province of Hubei

The 35-year-old suspect, a man surnamed Chen, rushed into the school in Macheng in the central province of Hubei and began slashing at students with a kitchen knife, the official Xinhua news agency reported, citing the local government.
Police apprehended Chen at the scene, the report added, and the eight injured pupils were hospitalised.
China has seen several violent attacks against children in recent years, including a spate of five incidents in 2010 which killed 17 people -- 15 of them children -- and wounded more than 80.
Last March, a man killed two relatives and then slashed 11 people, including six children, outside a school in China's commercial hub Shanghai.

Manchester United appoint Louis van Gaal as manager

Louis van Gaal promised to "make history" and return Manchester United to winning ways after being named as manager of "the biggest club in the world".yesterday.

One of the worst-kept secrets within football finally became public knowledge when the Netherlands manager was named as the new boss of the struggling English giants.
Manchester United chief executive, Ed woodward has this to say about the choosen one: "In Louis van Gaal, we have secured the services of one of the outstanding managers in the game today,  "He has achieved many things in his career to date and Old Trafford provides him with a fitting stage on which to write new chapters in the Manchester United story."

And true to the football gaffers' bid to restore the club to its former glories, Vn Gaal has retained Ryan Giggs as his assistant manager and Ryan is excited and thrilled to have the chance to serve as assistant manager, answerable to the dutch man.  Giggs said on Monday, before announcing his retirement from playing. "Louis van Gaal is a world-class coach and I know I will learn a lot about coaching from being able to observe and contribute at such close quarters.
"Manchester United has been a huge part of my life and I'm delighted to be able to continue that relationship in such a key role.
"Today is a new chapter filled with many emotions -- immense pride, sadness, but most of all, excitement towards the future. United fans I hope will share and echo my belief that the club, the management and owners, are doing everything they can to return this great club to where it belongs, and I hope to be there every step of the way."

United finished the season in seventh place and had to watch neighbours Manchester City win the title.

Van Gaal is set to rejuvenate an aging squad with major changes in defence expected after the long-established centre-back pairing of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand both announced they were leaving the club.

United's US-based owners, the Glazer family, also want van Gaal to restore the reputation of the club's youth system as a conveyor belt for first-team talent, something Moyes was said o have little interest in during his brief time at Old Trafford.

"I am delighted that Louis will be our next manager," said Joel Glazer. "He has an outstanding pedigree as a coach, both as a man who motivates his teams to win trophies and as someone who believes in giving young players a chance to prove their worth."

Is Oscar Pistorius really sick upstairs?

Oscar Pistorius 'is suffereing from generalized anxiety disorder' . psychiatrist

The twenty seven (27) years old Olympian  is accused of murdering his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, in his home last year.
Pistorius has not claimed he was insane or mentally incapacitated when he shot her. But when the defense put the psychiatrist on the stand, it raised the question of the athlete's mental health, the judge said last week.
The expert panel evaluating Pistorius has three options:
 1) They could find that Pistorius was mentally incapacitated when he shot Steenkamp, which would end the trial immediately in a verdict of not guilty by reason of mental illness. That would lead to the athlete being committed to a mental institution until he is ruled not to be a danger.
2) The doctors could also find that he had "diminished responsibility" at the time he killed Steenkamp. In that case, the trial would resume, and the experts' finding would be taken into consideration during sentencing if he is found guilty.
3) The third possibility is that the experts could disagree with the defense psychiatrist and say that Pistorius' mental health is not an issue at a

The trial will not resume until June 30th,  Judge Thokozie Masipa ruled yesterday.

The U.S. indicts 5 Chinese officers on charges of hacking into U.S. businesses.

US Attorney General Eric Holder announced Monday that members of the Chinese military have engaged in the hacking of American businesses and entities, including U.S. Steel Corp., Westinghouse, Alcoa, Allegheny Technologies, the United Steel Workers Union and SolarWorld.
The victims operate in Pennsylvania, and a grand jury there returned a 31-count indictment against members of the Chinese military, accusing them of violating federal law by hacking to spy and steal secrets, Holder said. The indictment alleges that five People's Liberation Army officers
"maintained unauthorized access to victim computers to steal information from these entities that would be useful" to the victims' competitors in China, the attorney general said.
Their names are Wang Dong, Sun Kailiang, Wen Xinyu, Huang Zhenyu and Gu Chunhui, according to the indictment.
The Chinese government did not immediately confirm or deny the veracity of the names.
In some instances, the hackers stole trade secrets that would have been "particularly beneficial to Chinese companies at the time that they were stolen," Holder said.
In other cases, they are accused of swiping sensitive internal communications that could provide a competitor or a litigation adversary with insight into the strategy and the vulnerabilities of the victimized companies and entities, he said.
The attorney general said that he hopes the Chinese government will work with American officials to bring the offenders to justice and that the United States intends to prosecute.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington referred questions to a statement on China's Foreign Ministry site in which spokesman Qin Gang called the charges "extremely absurd."
He said that the United States "has fabricated facts" and that China is a "staunch defender of cyber security."
The statement said the Chinese government, its military and "associated personnel never engage in any theft of trade secrets."
The indictment "severely violates basic norms of international relations, and harms cooperation and mutual trust between China and the United States," the statement said.
China protested the U.S. action, the Foreign Ministry statement said, and wants it to "correct its mistake" and withdraw the charge.
China is a "victim of U.S. cyber surveillance and theft," the spokesman asserted, saying that "certain U.S. agencies have been consistently tapping into China's government agencies, corporates, universities, and private networks for surveillance purposes."
Sensitive subject
A spokeswoman for the State Department told reporters that Washington wants to have more dialogue with Beijing about the issue.
"We remain deeply concerned about Chinese government-sponsored, cyber-enabled theft of trade secrets and other sensitive business information for commercial gain," Jen Psaki said. "And, again, this was specific to the actions of ... of just a few individuals. And we hope that the Chinese government can understand that."
This was a law enforcement case, she added, not a diplomatic one.
"We continue to believe -- and this is relevant to us, our role here at the State Department -- that we can have a constructive and productive relationship with China," she said. "We're ready to work with China to prevent these types of activities from continuing."
Joining Holder, David Hickton, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, said the alleged hacking has caused the victimized U.S. companies to lose capital investments in research and technology.
He added that the "important message" is that cyberespionage "impacts real people in real and painful ways," he said.
"The lifeblood of any organization is the people who work, strive and sweat for it. When these cyberintrusions occur, production slows, plants close, workers get laid off and lose their homes," Hickton said.
"Hacking, spying and cybertheft for commercial advantage can and will be prosecuted criminally even when the defendants are state actors," he said.
These are the first charges against Chinese state officials for what the U.S. says is a widespread problem, U.S. officials told CNN before Holder's remarks.
At a regular news briefing at the White House on Monday, press secretary Jay Carney was asked about the case.
"This is an issue that has been brought up by President Obama with (Chinese) President Xi (Jinping) in their meetings as recently as in March as a general problem that we have seen and reflects the president's overall concern about cybersecurity," Carney said. "We have consistently and candidly raised these concerns with the Chinese government, and today's announcement reflects our growing concern that this Chinese behavior has continued."
He was adamant that the U.S. "intelligence programs serve a specific national security mission, and that does not include providing a competitive advantage to U.S. companies or U.S. economic interests," Carney said. "In other words, we do not do what those Chinese nationals were indicted for earlier today.

Shehu Sani the link man between Boko Haram and the FG

Shehu Sanni a human right activist who declined to serve in a 26-member presidential committee empanelled  by President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan to constructively engage key members of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group and comprehensively work out a framework for resolving insecurity in the country before the kidnapping of the missing girls is still in the news.
Shehu Sani like his Borno State co-traveler Governor Kashim Shettima wants the Federal Government to deal with the dreaded terrorist group. He now wants the FG to constitute a panel to open communication channel with the sect, headed by Dr Datti Ahmed and membered with selected Boko Haram members in detention and a few journalists from Maiduguri state whom the insurgents will listen to on the panel. this is  for the purpose of freeing the kidnapped girls.

Comrade Shehu Sani as he is popularly called knows the dreaded terrorist group inside out, he even knows when they hit target and when they fail. Sometimes ago while being interviewed on BBC Hardtalk  he told the world that he wasn't sure that it was Boko Haram that killed Babakura Fugu, a brother to the late leader of Boko Haram Yusuf Muhammed because he knows better.

Shehu sani knows so much about Boko Haram and should be called (begged) to assist in the ongoing war against terror in Nigeria.

-He said the nation has failed to protect its young ones and “now we are denying them the opportunity to live a free life. If the nation had taken serious lessons from earlier brigandage by the insurgents, we could not have been talking of the use of force to free our children. For over three years, the insurgents have been burning schools, killing teachers and abducting children, why did our outrage wait for Chibok?” Who is Shehu Sani? Is he a true Nigerian? what is his interest in all of this?

Arsenal FC has something to celebrate after 9yrs of drought.

Arsenal recovered from going two goals down in the opening eight minutes to beat Hull City 3-2 after extra time in the FA Cup final and win their first trophy for nine years at Wembley some few minutes ago
Despite dominating possession for long periods Arsenal had to wait until the 71st minute before Laurent Koscielny equalised when he turned and scored from close range after Hull failed to clear a corner.
the day was shaping up as an embarrassing one for Arsenal at Wembley Stadium, when Hull scored twice in the first eight minutes. Hull has never won a major trophy in its 110-year history.

But after goals from James Chester and Curtis Davies, Santi Cazorla began Arsenal's comeback in the 17th minute by scoring directly from a free kick.

The winner came when Ramsey scored with the outside of his right foot to give Arsenal their 11th FA Cup win, equalling the all-time record held by Manchester United. .  Congratulations to all Aresenal fans.

Kim Kardashian weds again.

No 3!

Kim has been married for three years and three months in the past fourteen (14) years and come Saturday 24th of May 2014, she will be doing it for the third (3rd) time, but this time with a street boy with credibilities. (Kanye West)  She was married to music producer Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2003 and spent 72 days married to professional basketball player Kris Humphries in 2011.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West will get married at Florence's 16th Century Belvedere Fort in Italy on 24 May.

According to a spokeswoman at the mayor's office, the couple rented the villa for 300,000 euros (£244,000).

A Protestant minister will preside over the ceremony, said Elisa Di Lupo.

The 36-year-old rapper proposed to the reality star on her 33rd birthday in October 2013, renting out San Francisco baseball ground AT&T Park for the occasion.

This is the first marriage for Kanye West, who was previously engaged to designer Alexis Phifer.

It will be the third trip down the aisle for 33-year-old Kardashian.

The couple had reportedly been planning a wedding ceremony in Paris but that's unlikely as anyone wanting to get married there has to be resident in the French capital for four weeks before authorities will grant a marriage licence... this wishing them a blissful marriage. Congratulations Kim!

Stand up for the Champions!!!!!!

Atletico Madrid won La Liga for the first time since 1996 by securing a draw in a pulsating match at Barcelona.
Striker Diego Costa went off injured for Atletico early on and Barcelona capitalised as Alexis Sanchez smashed in a superb opener.
Atletico came out strong in the second half as David Villa hit the post before Diego Godin headed in the equaliser.
Barcelona would have won the title with a win and Dani Alves went close with a fierce drive, but Atletico held on.
The draw meant Atletico finished first with 90 points, three ahead of Barcelona.

Arsenal v Hull City, Atletico v FC Barcelona, Bayern v Dortmund, while Manchester City are celebrating....

Nine years without trophy is taking its toll. Arsenal fans are frustrated and critics are flourishing. Arsene Wenger has a chance to end that trophy drought. He will have to win this game against Hull, against whom they have established a dominance.
Last time Arsenal met Hull in the KC stadium where they won 3-0, with Lucas Podolski getting a brace and Aaron Ramsey scoring once.

This is the exact team that beat Barcelona 1-0 in the Champions League semi-final second leg, So not all is lost for Atletico. They push forward and Koke tries to bend one to the back post, but it's too high and Pinto comes out to claim the ball.

English premiership champions..... Putting a smile back on the faces of players and fans with a lovely brand of attacking football, his attentive and rounded approach rubbed off positively on the team. If he can resist the temptation to make wholesale changes this summer, I can only see his Man City side becoming even more cohesive next term.

"This is also about supremacy in Germany, it's about showing our rivals," said Germany star Mueller as Bayern prepare to play Dortmund for the fourth and final time this season with Borussia leading the current 'Der Klassiker' series two wins to Munich's one.
Mueller insists Bayern start as favourites at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, but after Borussia have won eight of their final 10 matches this season, "the current trend (of results) has brought Dortmund a step closer to us".
"We can't allow ourselves to give away reckless turnovers. If we do, Dortmund will be just waiting to counter-attack us."
Bayern are bidding to win the domestic double for the tenth time, having already secured the Bundesliga title in March with a record seven games to spare.
In contrast, Dortmund are chasing their fourth cup final victory having finished their league campaign second to their Bavarian rivals in the table.

The francophones has agreed to join in the war against Boko Haram.

Plan to share surveillance, intelligence forged against Boko Haram
A security summit in Paris about Nigeria and Boko Haram agreed some few minutes ago on "a plan of action" for countries to share intelligence and surveillance "in order to find those young girls," said French President François Hollande, who's hosting the summit. He was referring to how Boko Haram has kidnapped nearly 300 girls in Nigeria.
The summit has led partnering countries "to take stronger measures to eradicate" the extremist Islam group accused of abducting nearly 300 girls in Nigeria, Cameroon President Paul Biya said at the summit. "We're here to declare war on Boko Haram."

As the search for the girls continues, regional leaders are meeting in Paris to discuss the militant group's escalating threat to the region.
French President François Hollande is hosting the security summit at Elysée Palace.
In addition to Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, the leaders of Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger will address regional security issues. The United States, the European Union and Britain are expected to send representatives.

Is Governor Kashim Shettima the Devils Advocate?

Kashim Shettima wants the FG to release Aminu Ogwuche the suspected mastermind of the Nyanya bomb blast and others in exchange for the Chibok girls?

Deal with Devil if it means getting back the kidnapped girls- kashim shettima
The governor of  Borno State, where nearly 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped, told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Thursday that the government should negotiate with Boko Haram – make a deal “with the devil” – if it means bringing the girls back.

He also said “The issue of not negotiating with the terrorists is out of the question,” Kashim Shettima said. “If it means talking to the devil, it mean the devil can come down, we can get back our girls.”

Boko Haram, the group that kidnapped the girls, “are a bunch of raving lunatics,” Shettima said.

A month has passed since the girls were kidnapped, and the Nigerian government has been accused of not acting swiftly or efficiently enough to protect villages in the region threatened by Boko Haram

The Federal Government has said 'NO' to a swap with  Boko Haram but, the Governor of Borno state wants the President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan's government to Negotiate with the "Devil"...

Is Shettima now  the devils advocate? Was Shettima warned by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) before the kidnapping? what were his reason(s) for not heeding the warning? ... Should the Federal Government swap   Aminu Ogwuche and co.for the Chibok girls?

This man must be insane. How can he suggest that government should (beg) negotiate with blood hungry wolves that have earlier warned that they don't

accept dialogue with government which the sect described as infidels.

This man and their cabals must be trying to eat from this whole issue.

The terrorists should be tracked down and and the girls freed safely. All these people talking about negotiations with terrorists should undergo

psychological fitness test and be investigated and there should be no sacred cow.

The international community should not be distracted by this senseless statements of the Borno governor and their cabals.

I am not a politician but let's not forget that most Nigerian Presidents were from the Northern Nigeria. Most of them ruled during the Nigerian oil boom.

What legacies did they leave? So Northern Nigeria just became impoverished? Federal revenue is shared among states does it mean Northern Nigeria do

not get their own share? South eastern Nigeria fought a civil war and were almost exterminated by Northerners, lost their lives and properties before,

during and after the civil war. Why is Shettima talking of poverty in the North Eastern Nigeria? His people were offered free nomadic education when my

family paid heavily for my education .What did they do with it? Mr. Shettima, how many times have your people destroyed lives and property of Igbos living

in your part of country for no just cause? Now you are complaining of poverty. What disaster have your people gone through? ISLAM, CULTURE AND POLIGAMY ARE YOUR PROBLEMS. TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR LIFE STYLES! YOUR PEOPLE HAVE NOT GONE THROUGH HALF THE THINGS IGBOS HAVE GONE

THROUGH IN NIGERIA AND YOU KNOW IT. FOR STARTERS, EMANCIPATE YOUR WOMEN.IT TAKES A WOMAN TO BUILD A COMMUINTY.

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid: Will Diego Simeone do it again?

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou on Saturday, May 17th, is quite simply the most important single league game played in Spanish football in decades. It is the establishment vs the upstarts, the ruling class v the rebels, prog-rock v punk in 1976, Diego Simeone v fate.

Here are facts you need to know about Saturday's game:

Saturday's matchup is only the third time in league history the title has been decided in circumstances such as these.
And both Atletico and Barcelona were involved then too.

Atletico edged Sevilla in a final round decider to close the 1950/51 season - five years after Sevilla emerged triumphant against Barcelona in a similar showdown.

"We can't look to the past, we need to focus on the present," Atletico captain Gabi Fernandez said. "We have a historic opportunity to win the league and the Champions League also."

Atletico, which plays Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 24, hasn't competed for the title since its league-cup double triumph in 1995/96.

Both clubs have faltered in recent weeks, with Gerardo Martino's men dropping points in each of their last two matches, conceding a last-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw at home to Getafe before being held 0-0 at Elche last time out.
That stalemate opened the door for Atletico to clinch their first crown since 1996, but they too were left frustrated, drawing 1-1 with Malaga last time out after they had lost 2-0 at Levante one week earlier. Those results set up what promises to be a tense finale on Saturday, with Diego Simeone's men knowing a win or a draw will see them end their 18-year wait for a 10th Liga title.
The Argentinian, a key part of the Atletico squad to lift the trophy back in 1996, has presided over an outstanding campaign, guiding the club to both the summit of La Liga and a UEFA Champions League final date with bitter rivals Real Madrid on May 24.
His opposite number Martino, however, has come under fire with Barca's hopes of a treble dashed in the space of eight days last month. Atletico contributed to part of that disappointment, with their 1-0 in the Champions League quarter-final second-leg victory sealing a 2-1 aggregate success. Barca's misery was then compounded by a 2-1 reverse to Real in the Copa del Rey final a week later.
Sandwiched between those two losses was a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Granada, a result that seemingly left their league hopes in tatters.  However, a
17th home Liga win of the season would see Barca lift their fifth title in the last six campaigns.
Atletico defender Miranda, meanwhile, does not believe his side have missed their chance to claim glory by taking just one point from their last two matches, but insists they have to be wary of a dangerous Barca outfit.
"It has been a long season and at the beginning nobody believed that we would be in the fight for the league. We have to play well and look for victory," he said.
"They are a difficult team to play on the counter against because they're so good. They're a strong team, but we will try to play well and win."

Prediction: Atletico Madrid 2-1 Barcelona

Boko Haram rebels kill four Nigerian soldiers in ambush

Boko Haram rebels killed four Nigerian soldiers in a night ambush outside the northeastern city of Maiduguri and several insurgents also died in the firefight, according to a statement on Wednesday from Defence Headquarters.

Soldiers fired shots in the air at Maiduguri barracks on Wednesday because they were angry with their commanders about having been made to return at night to the city through an area where Boko Haram is fighting an insurgency, soldiers told Reuters.
"Troops on patrol around Chibok were ambushed by insurgents yesterday. Troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce combat and extricated themselves from the ambush killing several insurgents. Four soldiers however lost their lives during the ambush," said a statement from Defence Headquarters.
"On evacuation of the remains of the fallen troops, the General Officer Commanding addressed the troops who registered their anger about the incident by firing into the air. The situation has since been brought under control," it said.
Boko Haram has waged a five-year insurgency in northern Nigeria for an Islamic state. A month ago its fighters stormed a school in the village of Chibok and seized 276 girls who were taking exams. Some escaped but about 200 remain missing.
On Monday, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau released a video showing some of the girls in captivity and offered to exchange them for Boko Haram prisoners held by the government

A fool says in his heart that 'there is no God'

GOD DEY O!

No doubt about it! God is good —
good to good people, good to the good-hearted.

2 But I nearly missed it,
missed seeing his goodness.
3 I was looking the other way,
looking up to the people
4 At the top,
envying the wicked who have it made,
5 Who have nothing to worry about,
not a care in the whole wide world.

6 Pretentious with arrogance,
they wear the latest fashions in violence,
7 Pampered and overfed,
decked out in silk bows of silliness.
8 They jeer, using words to kill;
they bully their way with words.
9 They're full of hot air,
loudmouths disturbing the peace.
10 People actually listen to them — can you believe it?
Like thirsty puppies, they lap up their words.

11 What's going on here? Is God out to lunch?
Nobody's tending the store.
12 The wicked get by with everything;
they have it made, piling up riches
13 I've been stupid to play by the rules;
what has it gotten me?
14 A long run of bad luck, that's what —
a slap in the face every time I walk out the door.

15 If I'd have given in and talked like this,
I would have betrayed your dear children.
16 Still, when I tried to figure it out,
all I got was a splitting headache . . .
17 Until I entered the sanctuary of God.
Then I saw the whole picture:
18 The slippery road you've put them on,
with a final crash in a ditch of delusions.
19 In the blink of an eye, disaster!
A blind curve in the dark, and — nightmare!
20 We wake up and rub our eyes. . . . Nothing.
There's nothing to them. And there never was.

21 When I was beleaguered and bitter,
Ps 73:1-10
o doubt about it! God is good —
good to good people, good to the good-hearted.

21 When I was beleaguered and bitter,
totally consumed by envy,
22 I was totally ignorant, a dumb ox
in your very presence.
23 I'm still in your presence,
but you've taken my hand.
24 You wisely and tenderly lead me,
and then you bless me.

25 You're all I want in heaven!
You're all I want on earth!
26 When my skin sags and my bones get brittle,
God is rock-firm and faithful.
27 Look! Those who left you are falling apart!
Deserters, they'll never be heard from again.
28 But I'm in the very presence of God —
oh, how refreshing it is!
I've made Lord God my home.
God, I'm telling the world what you do!

An Asaph psalm.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau opens" the door to a resolution. He wants a swap.

"There are two ways to which you can get these girls free,
"The first is to use force, and the second is through dialogue. The use of force is not an option for now in the sense that nobody knows where these girls are kept.
"And even if you know, these girls have been embedded in with the insurgents who are heavily armed. And any attempt to rescue them will be putting their lives in further danger." the National Orientation Agency, said all options, including negotiations, are under consideration
The Nigerian government has negotiated with Boko Haram for the release of kidnapped girls before,
Last year, the militant group won the release of some 100 of its imprisoned members after reaching an agreement to return about a dozen kidnapped girls.

"I believe that the lives of these girls is more important to us than the insurgents that have been in detention. And we have nothing to lose if we send the insurgents and we can swap them with these girls back. The Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau appeared to open the door to such a resolution.
"By Allah, these girls will not leave our hands until you release our brothers in your prison," he said.
If not, they'll be sold as slaves, he said.
Rights groups have accused Nigeria of using heavy-handed tactics such as illegal searches, torture and extrajudicial killings to crack down on the militants
